Open-Access TEFL meets ITEFLAC´s strict and rigorous accreditation requirements and meets international standards.
Open Access TEFL promotes a simple idea: teacher training should be accessible, transparent, and risk-free. Instead of paying large upfront fees before seeing the course, Open Access TEFL providers allow students to complete their training first, with the option to purchase certification afterwards if they choose. This approach removes financial barriers and allows future teachers to focus on what matters most — learning how to teach effectively.
Open Access TEFL is an initiative that promotes a more accessible approach to English teacher training. The goal of the initiative is to make TEFL training available to a wider global community while maintaining professional standards and responsible course design. By encouraging transparency and reducing financial barriers, Open Access TEFL supports aspiring teachers who wish to explore the profession without committing to large upfront course fees.
Open Access TEFL is also a framework and standards initiative.
The initiative defines the principles that support accessible and responsible teacher training. Providers that follow these principles may be recognised within the Open Access TEFL framework.
These standards help ensure that Open Access training maintains professional credibility while remaining accessible to learners around the world.

The Recognised Teaching Practice Certificate (20 Hours) is a portfolio-based Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme designed to recognise previously acquired practical English language teaching experience.
Offered in collaboration with TEFL providers and accredited by ITEFLAC, the programme enables eligible applicants to gain formal recognition for documented teaching experience acquired through online teaching or private tutoring.
Unlike traditional teaching practicum programmes, this recognition pathway assesses prior teaching experience through the submission and evaluation of supporting evidence.
Successful applicants become eligible to receive a Recognised Teaching Practice Certificate (20 Hours).
